For me, it's just a matter of surrounding yourself with the people you really like. I only have two real friends that I'm on the same page with. Funny thing is, we have very few similar interests, different profession and sometimes, we have very contradictory opinions but we never ever get tired of each other because we can talk about anything and never get bored. I never tried to "blend in" with groups or coworkers if I feel that I'm not in their zone. In events, I even prefer sitting alone than doing small talks or socialing with people I don't find interesting. Other people may think they have the most interesting personality but not all people will like them and can still find them boring. On the other hand, other people think they are a walking snoozefest but other people may still have interest with them. Just a matter of preference, that's all. What you think that's interesting may not be interesting for others and what you think that's boring may not be boring others.

As Daniel Kahnemann noted, humans are bad at statistical thinking. If you stop and "do the numbers", you get a clearer picture of what's worth doing and what's worth quitting

I get your point but people's problem is that they just cannot answer the question you ask in the end: "what can you do right now, that gives your live purpose?" I just don't know. So how to find out?

A lot of this stems with people wanting to avoid their own anxiety and also have an identity as a “good person” (oftentimes, it’s exactly the anxiety around not being a good person than drives the behavior) It’s that fucking toxic shame of not being good enough as you are that needs to be uprooted. Currently my journey.

Wow, this just hit hard today. I’m married and feel alone - I’ve been in recovery for over 18 mos now and the one thing I’ve discovered is that I am willing to go to any lengths to heal and it includes being alone on my own. Thank you for the encouragement. ❤

I had a good childhood and had wonderful parents. Sometimes being a nice guy is just because you know that if you speak your mind in front of your wife, the marriage is over, or at least she's going to make your life such a hell to teach you to never cross her again.

I'm not sure that "afraid" is the right word. I've never been afraid of a woman, but I have looked at what could happen, and that's the fact that the majority of divorces are initiated by women. People make fun of the saying "happy wife, happy life" (usually said by comedian Jeff Allen) but the one you need to look out for is something said by Jeff Foxworthy "if she ain't happy, you ain't happy, and if she ain't happy long enough, you ain't gonna be happy with half your stuff". So a lot of us already know that if we piss her off enough, she will have no problem filing, usually taking the house, the kids, and destroying your life. So we're not afraid of a woman, we just know that if she gets mad enough, we're at best seeing our kids on weekends. While you mentioned men don't need to be afraid of women physically, you even mentioned unless she's a MMA fighter, I disagree. Women have learned that they are free to hit a man as much as she wants and he's powerless to even defend himself. Most men already know that even if she is the one hitting you, you can't call 911 because as soon as the cops show up, it doesn't matter that you're the one with the black eye, you're the one going to jail because society doesn't accept the idea that the woman can be the violent one and the man is the victim. So to go back to the idea of why a man would sleep on the couch, do you think that by him insisting on sleeping in his own bed is going to end well? Even without greater consequences, she's not letting him sleep that night. And most women are strong willed enough that she'll gladly give up sleeping just to ensure that he doesn't sleep.

I mean, I would not marry a prostitute, would you?
